Only thing I'd be worried about is how much room you are going to have for the screen to swing out...it's a great deck though I seriously thought about doing that with my car, but I ended up just getting an Alpine HU instead...I'm sure someone with a double din will answer your question...I think it WILL fit in there...again I'm just not sure if you'll have the room for the screen to swing out.

won't fit Alero's are 1.5 DIN. The later years may have 2 DIN like the Grand Ams.

Yeah you're right...I just realized that now, because of the mounting kit that is needed for it. I have an '02 and Jamcllw is right. Because if you put a regular deck in the mounting kit you use usually has a small little pocket underneath to help fill in the space...so it is a 1.5 Din.

Since when is the Alero a 1.5 Din? I have a stock deck from an 03 Alero and I also have a 1.5 Din Pioneer - I compaired the 2 and the Alero is atleast an inch taller then the 1.5 din.

The Alero Stereo on that picture is from an 01 GLS

I still have the factory in my car - but it's the same.

^^ What are you talking about? The only picture in this thread is of an aftermaret Kenwood deck that's double din. I know for a fact that it won't fit into a 2000 without modification. And I'm pretty sure that it won't fit into a 2001 either.

I'm a crackhead - I forgot to attach my picture

The 99-00 are Din 1.5 - 01+ are 2x, so his WOULD be a 2x and he could use that Kenwood.

actually...all alero stock headunits are double din. i have 2 '99 alero decks(actually one is out of an eighty-eight) and one stock gmc 1.5din. you can easily tell the difference between the two. HOWEVER, the way GM made the double din unit and the bezel is having it fit BEHIND the bezel flush to it. there is absolutely NO WAY you will get an aftermarket double din to fit, cause they just arent flat on the front like the stock is. a 1.5 din should fit pretty good though.

Thank you soundxtreme for the correction. This is a question asked alot on here and I am getting tired of being the only one to correct it. The industry standard does not apply to the shape of a bevel. It goes by the size of the radio. Ford uses a round bezel mounted to the front of the climate control and HU. However, the radio is still a single din. All aleros have a double din opening but are restricted by the outer bezel. If you were willing to dremel the corners out, the double din will fit. I realy don't think it will look bad. My eclipse single din has a larger trim plate that won't fit between the bezel. I dremeled out where the trim plate sits and recessed it in. I then took black foam ( bought at wal-mart in craft area) and glued it to the back of the bezel. A quick cut with the utility nife and no gaps.
