New Engine & More? Need Help.
I have a 2.4L engine in my 99' Olds Alero 4dr. I'm wanting to put a new engine in it and I don't really know what will fit. Would a 6 cylinder fit in it or better yet an 8 cylinder? I'm pretty new into thinking of 'upgrading' engines. Also really wanting to put an AAS Bodykit on it with Pacesetter Exaust... Also does anyone know if there are any 'racing' style rear seats to be had?
(Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but eh. Worth a try.)
Please help! lol

1. If you have to ask, you aren't doing any engine swaps, especially not one to a different type of engine. The Northstar V8 fits. Making mounts, figuring out how to move everything around so it fits, new axles, new transmission, wiring that all up so it actually works, etc. The 3400 V6 would work, as it's straight out of an Alero.
Stick with what you have, it's a good engine... boost it.
2. Racing rear seats, front seats mounted to brackets on the rear. Same ones, just install them in the rear.

Since the 3400 V6 is out of an Alero how much work would I have to do to it... Rewiring and all?
J/w.
Also where would I get a Northstar V8? Curious.

New PCM, wiring hardness, BCM, and maybe tranny.
Stick with the 2.4 and work that. Ton of aftermarket support and ion's Alero is almost as fast as mine, but his will be faster soon

I'm pretty sure it's as fast as yours at the moment (haven't been to the track yet since the TB and smaller pulley) but I stuck right with the new Mustang GT which runs 13.6.
You get a Northstar V8 from a Cadillac. Stick with the LD9, it's too much work to swap a 3400 without any real benefit.

This is all very useful. Are Hydrogen Boosters legal in the states? (J/w) I heard they get 30% better gas mileage and like 10% better HP.

Dude, just stick with the 2.4, Boost it like [ion] c2 and build yourself a nice little sleeper. When you beat people and they ask what you have under the hood, it sounds 20x cooler when you say, "its just a 4-banger". Im telling you man, these guys know what they are talking about and the people on this site can make the coolest things out of these stock motors. As for the Northstar, it is not worth the money. If you want a v8, trade in your Alero for a v8 car. Just my thoughts...

look at it this way... your 4cyc has alot of room for expansion, and swapping in a v8 will get you the stock HP on that v8, but nothing more. it totally fills the engine bay.
i'm not exactly sure about the hp on the v8, but i'm guessing maybe 300ish.
you upgrade all the internals and mechanics of the engine you have and you can do at least that.
