I want to disengage my ebrake so that when i pull it, it doesn't set off the computer and turn off traction/make beeping sound. Can i just cut the wire to it and if so, how do i take it off to get to the wiring?

what year do you have? on my 2002 it doesnt even beep when you lift the ebrake-the red light just comes on showing that it is on. But then again the previous owner might have did something to it. If you are that concerned about it just try pullin the relay. hope this helps

and btw what would u always need to use the ebrake for on an automatic? the only times i use itare in the winter to power slide, and it aint winter anymore...

Mine makes noise if you pull it with the car moving...

i have a 99 and it beeps when your in drive and driving. the other thing is, when i bought the car, i dont think the Ebrake was attached to the wheels because it doesnt do anything when i pull it so i just wanted to disengage it so i can drive with it up and it wont beep or have traction off.

lol, i'm just playing bud. i wouldn't put it past some guys, tho.

and, you may need to adjust your ebrakes in the rear brakes, i doubt that its disconnected. there are little "wheels" that you have to turn to adjust them.

duct tape the button down.

DRL's I'm pretty sure are wired into the tranny, like the auto locks. come on at 5MPH, or whatever.

Well since it doesnt work already, i was gunna attach my stereo remote to it at like a 45 deg. angle so i can work it from there.

My other idea, but i dont know if it would work, is to see if i can turn the e-break handle into a switch so that when i pull it up, it turns on lights and when its down, they are off.

Hmm...your first idea side kinda ghetto. Second idea sound OK...but i dontunderstand why you dont just get the e-brake tightened.

how would i tighten it or how much do you think it would cost if it went somewhere?
When i pull it, absolutly nothing happens so it must be fully loose.

when you say nothing happens, do you mean there is no resistance? or it doesn't change the braking? like i said before, you can adjust your ebrake yourself. it acts like a drum brake on the inside of your rear rotors.

it doesnt slow me down at all. I could be in neutral on a small hill with it pulled and i move as if it wasn't on. Do you have a picture of what i need to tighten or turn or can you describe it a little better so i can try to locate it?

pop off the panel where the shifter and the e brake are located on, and take a look under there. i think the e brake is connected by a cable that has a ball at the end that should be connected to the e brake. if thats disconnected it obv. wont work. If thats not it, do like 2fst4u said and take off ur rear rotors and see is thats way outta wack, if so obv. tighten it up
