3400 hesitating/stalling
So I'm driving to class tonight and everytime I get my car over 2000-2500ish rpm it will hesitate kinda like it does when it hits the speed govenor except a little more violently. Then I get about 1/4 of the way there and I go to pass someone and instead of hesitating it just stalls out, I didnt notice for awhile due to my stereo being too loud but when I went to give it gas it wouldn't go, and the oil light came on right before it stalled too. I got it started again and pulled into the parking lot, oil light never came back on, I checked the oil and that was fine, finally started driving back home with the stereo off so I could hear the engine and noticed that its idling much lower than usual, around 500 - 800ish and is very rough idling. It's probly going to the mechanic tomorrow but does anyone have any ideas?

I just got the fuel pump done over the summer so it shouldnt be that. I'm gonna do plugs and wires tomorrow since the ones in there now are origional to the car thus having 76,500 miles on them. I pulled out a plug in the front and it was gapped at like 1/8" and had quite bit of carbon on it, I'm hoping this is it as I had a similar problem on the s-10 I had before this. I'll let you guys know.

check fuses, injectors, air filter, plugs & wires, and you might want to get your codes checked if the SES light is on.

any lights on the dash coming on? a blinking SES light would mean a misfire...also, it could be a bad coil pack.

Thats the strange thing theres no SES light at all coming up when these problems happen, just the oil light, which I figured out only came on cause the engine stalled. I really think its the plugs, I'll check the injectors if the plugs dont do it. and I just did the cleaned the air filter but I hae been meaning to swap it from cai to wai, maybe I got a ton of slush and crap in the filter driving into school this morning. We'll find out when I dig into it tomorrow.

if by slush you mean water, you may have hydrolocked your engine

I just finished doing the plugs and wires, that was a pain. I took off the cold air intake and noticed it was full of water. From the mass airflow sensor back to the engine was a little bit of foam. Swaped it over to a WAI and now the thing starts, makes a sreeching noise while running, then if I give it a little gas it sputters and dies. Is it dead?

It really sounds like when I had a clogged fuel filter in my Dynasty. Would start and run, but as soon as i was giving him gas, sputter and stall.
But probably that water through the CAI didnt help...

If the engine runs at all, then it isn't hydro locked, as all the water would be flushed thru by now. Not saying he never had water in the engine, just saying it ain't in there now. My best suggestion would be the air and fuel filter. After that is checked, and problem still exists, you could have a spark plug cable shorting out (can check at night with lights out), bad plugs, bad coils, or plugged injectors. Maybe after changing the filters, run some seafoam thru it. Lots of people on here seem to think it is an axcellent product. Haven't tried it myself yet, but that's only because I haven't found any locally.

Got it started yesterday but my mechanic said not to let it run too much because of the possiility of water damage to the engine. Thanks to AAA I got it towed to my mechanice for $3. (4 miles from the house. first 3 miles free, $3 a mile after, haha!) He changed the oil, and the belt like I asked cause it was overdue, and hey its there why not. He started looking into the intake and it seems like all that happened was the water may have done something to the mass airflow sensor, other than that the car seems to run fine. Hopefully I'll have it back soon, Remember kids, remover your CAI before it snows out!!!
