I don't know why this is always such a hot topic. Over on the 3400 forum a guy wanted to put a 3800 in his car because he wants to start taking it to the track a lot more? I hope he means drag strip...

As if the alero wasnt front heavy enough with the 3400 engine, a 3800 in an n-body and a supercharger mounted on top would make for a terribly unbalanced car, and I wouldnt want to have to drive it in anything but a straight line...

"Balance" people... cmon!

If you want a drag car, go buy a camaro or mustang

First off, this topic is not like the other topics "Would it be a good idea" or "How much would it cost?" This topic, plain and simple, is for the benefit of those who want to see it. If you noticed, no one in this topic has really focused on cost or performance. Nearly ALL post have been about technical aspect of doing the swap.
If you're too narrow-minded to notice that, then don't bother posting here.

How is thinking about either the practicality, usefulness or consequences of such a swap narrow minded?

A rear-drive alero would be both more usefull (as far as drag racing and cornering balance is concerned) and more interesting from a show-car standpoint.
