Wow. The w bodies have the rear arm rest open up to the trunk (option?) and that was awesome for my sealed 2 10" box facing towards the back from the rear of the trunk. If you want the best sound, you need to experiment. If you wanna be a forum whore, you create multiple threads asking what others think you should do. More hands on, less hands on the keyboard.

Please stop calling it a port,,, call it a vent or a hole. When people hear port they think sub box. Ports are tuned and increase the efficiency of the sub, your VENT will do non of this. Nor will your VENT stop the rattling coming from the trunk.

If you are thinking of moving the 6x9s into the side wells of the rear plastic DONT.

6x9s blow nuts.

If you want to do this get some decent 5.25" or 6.5" Mids. There IS room.

Simply cut a hole accurately with a jig saw, dremel tool or butter knife. Then use the included grille covers. Or get some grilles if yours didnt come with any.

i know the vent will not stop the rattling, thats why the car willl be dynomatted how ever vents like these should help alot with other issues, such as pressure

well i guess there are only 2 solutions, either you take out the 6x9s or get a louder system so that way you dont have to have the seats down then.

Agreed. I don't ever need to put my seats down with mine.

I think if you put the two vents in a vertical line through the middle seat, it would look awesome.

It wouldn't be that comfortable for people sitting there, but oh well.

Wow, like 7 pages of discussion on this topic, with numerous suggestions from simple easy to do all the way to hacking up you car. Here is my honest opinion, what you're doing is a waste of time for how little benefit you're going to get out of it. Personally I would revamp the whole thing to get it right rather than, using band aid solutions. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not try to discourage you, please don't take offense to what I said. It's just my opinion.

Good luck with your project.

My vote would be what a lot of people have said, make the system louder so your not cutting holes in things.

The simple upgrading equipment rather than porting the trunk to cabin is a flawed and poor response.

The bottom line is the 6x9s need to be removed from the rear deck of a car when subs are in the trunk and the seats are up.

The reason is the pressure (both ways) involved with the subs. When the sub extends and presureizes the trunk, the 6x9s are forced to extends also. Same is true when the sub pulls back.

This actually causes the 6x9 to over extend. If power is applied to the speaker while this is happening it causes issues.

Now if your port the trunk and do so with say, 2 3" ports through the arm rest as mentioned- then you are creating a bandpass box. The same issues I mentioned earlier will still be a factor- besides the weird tuning this will create. The reason behind this is you are actually going to use ports that have an influence on the subs. The reason removing the 6x9s wont have an impact on the subs is because it will actually create a tuning point well above where the subs operate.

Now that Ive sunk so much time into this response I hope its crystal clear to AleroDrime and the others who commented.
