amp questions
hey everyone
so i bought a new amp tonight. nothing fancy, but it was cheap and all i could afford at the time
it is a Dual XPA4100. it's 50w x 4 at 4ohms, or 150w x 2 at 4ohms
now here are my questions. is this amp any good. it's all i could afford at the moment. it's probably low end, but my other amp died.
and the 50w is good for my front speakers since they require 65w. but my back speakers require 100w. can i use another amp to piggyback this amp. like my clarion amp that puts out 75w per channel? like connect the clarion amp to the dual amps 50w and kinda combine the power? if that makes sense.
hopefully someone reads this and posts something in the morning before i go and install it

don't do that! just use the 4 channel you bought. 50W, 100W, whatever, not too likely your going to notice with your rear speakers. but whatever you do don't "piggy back them"
you could run the fronts with 2 channels of the 4 channel amp and the back with the other amp, but it's pretty much a waste of time.
you only need to worry about lots of power with subs or if your going really highend (doesn't seem to be the case)
good luck

Good is a relative term. Since you already bought them the best way to tell is just intall it and test it. Also, your listening habbits will dictate whether the amp is good or not. At low volumes the difference is very little between entry level and mid level amps even the amp from your HU will be sufficient. If you like it loud then ideally you should have an amp that provides at least what your speaker requires.

what i think i'm going to do is put the amp with 75w on the front speakers, and bridge the back amp so it's 150w per channel and connect that to my rear speakers. the rear speakers only take 100w rms so i'll turn the gain down a little bit

Its a dual.
I think you already know its not a very good amp. Its on the very low end side of things.
As long as it makes you happy, thats all that really matters.
Your rears will probably be fine with 50 WRMS.
If you bridge that amp you will also increase the distortion of it.

Its done with the way you wire the speakers to it.
Depends on the Ohms of the speakers and the specs of the amp. If the amp can handle a 2 Ohm load on the rear channels?
Im guessing here the 6x9s are 4 Ohms. When you parallel them you get 2 Ohms. Most 4 channel amps wont allow you to bridge for a 2 Ohm load.

What kind of budget do you have?
I might be able to find you something livable in it. Trouble is that international shipping... I ship to canada by USPS seems to be the cheapest. But I never know what shipping is until the product is purchased and in my hands.

you should be fine with just run the amp on the fronts or rear speakers, but you might want 2 get a EQ.....it will help out with fine tuning the system...
