Everytime I look for a part I always get the same answer from companies like SLP, borla and flwmaster. None of them know if the grand am products will fit on an alero. From my little knowledge of new cars, it seems to me that the motor and exhaust on boths cars are identicle. Does this mean that just about every after market part that fits the grand am will fit the alero?

the mechanical parts are the same. The only difference between them is the body and interior. As long as you don't get any bodyparts or interior parts, you should be ok.
I have the ga slp muffler, and it is fine. You just need to notch out the back bumper a bit to hang the exhaust tip, cuz our stock mufflers are only output to one side.

some of the body is even the same, for example the doors, handles, and even the mirrors are now the same.

Like this
But all motor, and suspension parts will fit the Alero. If you buy a PCM, you must get an Alero tuned one
