I have a 2004 Alero Final 500 collector's edition #53 out of the last 500 Alero's ever made. I was wondering if I should get a body kit and more for it. I like the looks of several kits and would love to mod it, but on the other hand I'd hate to "ruin" a pretty rare car. I know it's more of a personal decision I"m just wanting some feedback. What do you all think about modding it?

Keep your car bone stock. Good chance of it being worth some money in the future that way. A lot better then the normal ones.

Yeah since you got one of the final 500's I'd say leave it be

I really don't think this car is going to be worth money for a long long time (like 30-40 years?). I mean it is just an alero with badges and the only person I could see paying money for it before it becomes an antique would be an Oldsmobile fanatic.
Anyone remember the final 500 Plymouths or what they are worth? Yeah, me either.

Thanks for the info, I was leaning toward keeping it stock. That's just hard to do after having a Ciera that has tons of mods to it. It would be worth more if I left it stock.

STOCK KEEP IT STOCK, even if it is just a Alero it is one of the last 500 produced so right there it probably has a higher worth than a regular Alero, You may wanna try to contact Barett Jackson or another car auction place to see if they think it will have a higher worth. If it was me I would put 0 miles on it and put it in storage and in 30 years it will make a pretty good car to sell and get all kinds of money.

Unfortunately I can't do that as I don't even have a driveway and kinda need the car to get to work. It has 1800 miles already.

Agreed! Modding it will be a lot more fun than sitting on it for 30 years.

If you are going to mod it, be careful as some of us can tell you the hassels GM will give you while under warranty if something goes. My opinion is take it easy until you finish your warranty, by then you'll begin to get an idea how much she'll be worth in a few more years, and whether or not it's worth modding then.
I drive an '04 and have a 6 year warranty, so I plan on keeping it basically stock until 2010. Sounds kinda dumb to some, but most of us that have either owned more than 1 Alero or has had them for quite some time know what can happen as it ages. I'm playing it safe as long as my repairs are on GM's dime!

i would say keep it stock and pick up another alero to mod.....you can get a 99 gls with all the options for like $4000 if you look so you could get a lower end alero for probably like $3000 maybe even $2500...that is chump change compared to what you payed for your final 500.....

Dont do anything while you have your warrenty. I dont think it will be worth that much either way. So do what you want.

i doubt if it will be worth anymore then any other alero of the same age and milleage UNLESS you kept it for like 30 years and only put on like 2000km or something silly like that.

^But really, isn't that the case with almost any car? I wonder what a Ford Pinto with only 1000 miles on it would be worth?

yup it is the case with just about any car.
The Alero has no history behind it to make the 500 worth a lot, Oldsmobile has history but not the alero. I just dont see them ever being worth anymore then any other Alero. It's not like they put a bigger engine or anything like that into it.
a final camaro, or if ford got ride of the mustang a final 500 mustang, that would be something to hang onto and keep it stock.

could even get extra set of headlights and clear the corners, that way the original ones can be stored...just in case...

That's exactly what I thought when I read his post. If he cleared a set of lights for it, I can almost guarantee it would be the only one that's modded at all.
