EDIT: yes, its full of fluid, the fluid is clean, and i followed instructions on removing air out of the newly installed pump.. do they make certain brands, or just oem replacements, because the ones from O'reillys suck.

If you only buy parts at places like Autozone or O'reillys, then you should expect to be frequently changing out the same parts over and over. Try NAPA instead sometime.

To answer one of your questions.... if your pump has a red, 2 pin plug down near the pressure/return lines, you have VES (granted its probably too late at this point... just figured I'd toss it out there)

VES? what does that do..

You would just have to swap over the stuff... The actual pump is the same.

hey all!

well, same problem started again. i had completely forgotten that it had messed up before but i sat in deep thought and now i recall that its been doing this since i bought it on a few occasions. The symptoms are that the car idles at 800 rpm's and the power steering doesn't work or works but makes a loud whining noise. If i rev the engine up to 1100 rpm's the power steering works fine. Whats the problem? is the pump going out? my dad suggested the rack and pinion but how do you check that?
