4 Way switch again.

I saw the pictures of the removal process and did the cluster ring but can't get the vent out. How does it come out? I tried prying it out but that's causing the plastic to beark so I stopped.

Also... what exactly is the problem, the internals of the switch or the connector wires that have the bad solder joints?

Thanks.

internals of the switch.. it has some sliding levers that don't mate up properly over time. bad design.

there are two clips under the vent that hold it in place.

Where are the clips? I can't see em. I tried using a flat knife to get under the decor ring but it's cracking the plastic and making a mess of the leatherete. DO I have to get under the dash somehow to get to it? Are the clips inside the vent? I'm missing something here. Thanks
