you know the stock thermostat is a 180 degree thermostat. lol. (actually the LD9 is) also getting a colder opening temperature won't make your car run cooler, it just changes the time it takes for it to get to normal operating temp (190-200). so many misunderstand this.

You can turbo your car for that amount.
If you want to build the engine it you're looking at around $2200 parts and labor.

it's not rocket sience to put an engine together lol (I'm just bugging you Ion)
Now on topic of the thread for tuning...
Quote:
Do you know how are cars determine fueling? Do you know what a VE table is? Maf table? Do you know how to correctly tune for spark? Do you know what the correct AFR is at light throttle? how about WOT?
If you can answer yes to all these then you can probably tune. If you answer no to any one of them, you aren't ready yet.
|
Your best bet is to pay someone to tune it if you can't answer those questions

That's because there are no bolt on kits made... it's so you get to research and learn about what you're doing instead of tossing money away and not knowing anything about cars.... take a look at Aleromod Upgrades sometime.

You could save up and wait until you get enough to do things right.

PFYC.com has a SC for the alero....$3600 tho.
I have never seen any turbo for 1200, maybe just the turbo, but then you got all the pipes, intercooler blow off, and all that stuff too. I dont know much about turbos but still know 1200 seems real cheap.
I was looking at turboing my lexus and the cheapest one I saw was a stage 1 and like 3-4k...stage 4 over 10k (but they tune and instal)
I would start small maybe some cams, headers, intake, exhaust, port and polish, pulleys (all the small stuff) pistons/rods and then use the programmer to adjust levels to where you would then get the most out of the minor mods you have added...logically thinking. Then once you had a turbo you will have upgraded a lot of the other stuff you would end up having too later.
****edit, I stand corrected with the $400 turbo on ebay, lol ha ha
