both of those will melt the plastic. wet sand is the way to go.

lacquer thinner. put some in a tin baking pan and set the tail lights in the pan lens down of course, let soak for 10 minutes and wipe it off. already had to do this twice.

I'd get some acetone and put on a cloth and rub your tails with it, it should come off, and shouldn't harm the plastic. You can buy acetone in the auto section at wal-mart.

lol @ acetone. wtvrdood

lol @ carb cleaner. wtvrdood

i'd try MEK first. Methyl Ethyl Ketone
Then lacquer thinner next if the mek doesn't work. but don't be slow about it and i wouldn't "soak" it
the longer nasty things touch plastic, the more degrading it is and you'll see what look like spider cracks eventually.

i didnt let it sit tht long.. it turned out fine. i was retinting it anyways.. i did a red bar in the center of the lights and i liked it at first but, i got sick of it. so point being theyre going to be so dark you wont see the cracks

Also try thiss stuff called Goo Gone. It comes in liquid form and takes VHT off like magic.
