engine swap

Has anyone ever put this engine in any other car than what it comes in (or knows someone who has)? i'm contemplating getting one to put in my '86 Fiero (I'm between the Ecotec engine and a Northstar engine ... leaning towards the Eco because of gas mileage).

If you can fit a Northstar in that little engine bay, you can get an Eco in

from what i have read, there are a lot more problems getting the eco in than the northstar - and there have been so many Fiero northstar swaps that they actually have kits, but there isn't anything for the eco. but i like the eco - thats the problem. i'd rather have the eco than the northstar.

LS1: like a retard on Viagra, they'll stick it in anything!
[/lame offensive joke]

Or you can do the tried and true 3800 S/C swap.

I would do the 3800 s/c before the ls1. I said it would go in never said I would do it 3800 s/c is a much better swap.

I could, but I want something different. This car is my show car - my toy. I'm trying to make it as individual as I can ... my husband suggested the 3800 swap - thats whats in his Intrigue. But I like my Eco motor better ...

Well, do you know what the mount differences are between the 2 motors?

I know a lot of Fireo guys used to do 60* GM motors like the 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4. Since the "N" bodies have both the 3.4 and the Eco, I'd look in that direction for mounting possibllies and differecnes

ehh, Quad 4s, 3800SC and V8s are played out in fieros already.

I like the ecotec idea. It would make the car have nice weight distribution.

I can't offer much advice on the swap itself, but if you want the eco in it, I say go for it. Someone has to be the first to do it. I would imagine that you wouldn't have much in the way of space issues, and mounts can be fabbed easily enough, then just figure out your electronics. Like Cliff said, the rest of the swaps are overdone. Eco is definitely unique. My gf and I were just talking the other day about Fieros. She had one in high school and wants to buy one again, as a project now.

From what i can see, the Eco has only been put in 2 or 3 other Fieros, but they are having so many problems and still aren't running. i'm up to the challenge anyway, from what i've read, most of the problems seem to be from the shifter - but I want to keep my Fiero automatic. i'm not sure if I have to install power steering or not with the engine swap (I don't see why I would, I kind if like not having power steering), but I can't handle stick and no power steering. I guess I can always find out more at the 25th show in Pontiac in July. I won't have that car ready anyway - i'll be taking the 87 GT.

Well, I don't know if anyone's devised a way to hook the TH125/3T40 up to the Ecotec yet.

Oh, and an even more unique setup would be a "B207R" saab engine (which is just their higher-pressure turbo ecotec)
