Cleaning the clear gauge cover.

I was wondering if anyone knows an easy way to clean up the clear plastic cover over the gauges, years of just wiping the dust off have left it scratched and nasty looking. Since I'm going to have it off in a week to put in a new bezel and guage covers I was wondering if just cleaning it off and spraying on some kind of clear coat would help or if it still going to look like crap.

lol don't use clear coat, I tried that on a clear gauge cluster cover and it just fogs it up permanently. If you want it super clear, either get a perfect one from a junkyard somehow or order a new one from GM. You might be able to polish it, do a search for a post about polishing fogged/pitted headlights, the sanding and polishing technique should be the same.
