Caddy's Service Engine Soon light is on...

So the used 2002 Cadillac Seville we picked up a couple weeks ago turned on it's very uninformative Service Engine Soon light the other day. It's running great and everything except it says it is only getting 12.9 MPG eep. But that's all real short distance driving. It came on right after I filled it up with 89 Octane gas instead of 87. This is only the second time we've filled it. I would be thinking it could be an O2 sensors, but anyone else have some ideas?

get the codes read at a dealer. sometimes it is worth paying them instead of having trobles in the future. that's what i would do.

Its had SOOO many major repairs that i dont even know where to begin. She cant wait to ditch it and get "a used chevy" she said. lmao. Ditch the car... Sevilles are really nice and all but really screwy too. My mom's seville sometimes doesn't start because of some problem with the suspension... thats right the suspension!

No Autozone around here, Just a Kragen and a PEPboys and for the life of me I can't find PEPboys hidden parking lot so I always just park in the lot a couple blocks away. But I did order a cheapy code reader off ebay earlier for like $45 shipped. Figured I will need it eventually.

My Brother's '96 STS shows the codes on the dash via the trunk button or something.

You should be running premium fuel 93 octane, it only cost a few dollars more per tank. As far as the SES light goes, it could be because of the cheap fuel you used or it might be the EGR valve or numerous other things.

Your best best it to get the code read and go from there.

Looks there is a self diagnostic program on the car. I'll have to check it tonight when I get home since the wife took it to work. I hope it's something major since we made them give us a 2 year GM warrenty for all the major stuff and I would hate to not get my money out of that muahahaha.
