ok, i decided im going to install the belt and the pulley myself. my questions are, where can i get a new seal? Mfuller said i should buy a new seal, to be on the safe side. the seal he is talking about is the one thats in the engine, and not the pulley right? also i know i need to buy anti seize, and some sort of lube, what lube do you guys reccomend, and is there anythign else i need?

also is there an easy way to uninstall or reinstall a new belt myself?

dunno about the seal with the belt just make sure that your engine is blocked up good and take the mount off and be sure not to break the tensioner where the breaker bar goes like I did 'cause then it's a real pain to get the belt on and off!

Just go to your local auto parts store, it's bundled with the timing cover gasket

all i wanna know is what, lube should i buy for the pulley, and how much/where can i buy a new seal. o reily's carries nothing for our cars....

and im not gonna block my engine off, and take any mounts off.....

just loosen the tensioner and remove belt and crank pulley

I'm pretty sure you have to block the engine up and undo one of the mounts in order to get the belt all the way off. Maybe somebody else can back me up on this.

ya, you cant put belts on and off without blockin the engine and taking the passenger side mount off.

what do you mean block it off!? and how come on the install instructions it says nothing about taking the passenger side mount off. i mean i know yo ucould but have you guys who have done this, had to lower the engine!?

You jack up the engine from underneath just a little bit and unbolt the engine from the passenger side mount. You only have to jack it up enough to slip the belt between the engine and the mount.

If you go to your local parts store, ask for a "Timing Cover Gasket" and it will have the seal you need in the box. (you won't need the rest of it though). If they ask, you do not want the "sleeve & Seal"

yes, ive done it, i changed out to a gatorback when i did my waterpump, it MUST come off. use a block of wood between the jack and the motor tho

on the passenger side of the motor by the coolant tank and by the belt, ya cant miss it. use a ratchet to get it off

You don't have to remove the engine mount unless you are taking the belt all the way off. I'm not sure if the pulleys you got are a different size than stock. If they are, then you will have to remove and replace your belt. You just put a jack under the motor to support the weight and remove the upper engine mount. This is kind of a PITA because you have to move the coolant reservoir, and that damn emmisions thing sitting right there.

i think this might be out of your league. if just trying to find out even how to remove the belt is a problem i wouldn't attempt the pully.

anyhow... removing the belt is no big deal. Jack the engine up a little. You can put a 2x4 on top of the jack under the oil pan just to relieve the weight of the engine. There should be 2 bolts holding the engine mount just to the right and under the coolant reservoir. Remove the 2 bolts and give the jack a crank or two. This should allow enough space to slide the old belt out. The new one goes back on the same way. Also there is a tensioner with a square in it where you can put a wratchet or a breaker bar. You will have to hold the tensioner to get the new belt back on.

someone above said that you have to remove the coolant reservoir. Thats not necessarily true it just depends. Same with the emissions stuff. You might not have it. Whole process of the belt shouldnt take more than 10-15 minutes. The pulley is another story... good luck with that.

do yo uthink its a good idea to remove the bolt on the crank pulley with an air gun? seeing as how its so tight?

The only way your going to get it off is with an impact gun. If you just use a socket on the bolt the motor is just going to spin. I don't know if these cars have a plate to remove to get to the fly wheel but if it does you could take it off and jam a screwdriver in between the teeth on the flex plate and use a regular wrench but that could be a bitch.
