I got the setup with the K&N air filter included.

One question that I do have, is their any performance difference between the K&N flat air filters v the K&N cone air filters?

Well the drop in air filters add some but not a lot of power, because you're still running stock system (if that's the filter you mean by "flat")

With a cai and k&n filter to stick on, it is the most ideal to have.

Me I have a cai with a spectre filter.
