On my 01' 2.4L Alero when I'm in park I can only get up to around 4000 RPMS.... no biggy. But the main reason for this post is that when I "put the pedal to the metal" when driving it doesn't accelerate as much as it can right away, it will accelerate slow and then after a few seconds(if that) BAM! It kicks in.... it's quite annoying.

Also, what do you think is a good first upgrade, I'm thinking exhause but I don't know poop so I'll ask you guys .

There will be more later

All 2.4 liters with Autos do that atleast mine does. you can try to switch gears manually to hold some speed. I have had a similiar problem at some speeds if you put it to the floor it does nothing then it will kick in hard its all becuase of the RPMS and speed you are at I guess.

Upgrade your exhaust and intake first then pretty much whatever you wont to after that but intake and exhaust are a must have.

are you talking about when you are moving, or from a dead stop?? If you are moving, it's because it's an automatic, and it has to downshift if u hit it. From a dead stop, its because stock these motors have less torque than my lug nuts

Thanks for the help guys, I'll get right to work on getting money for that exhaust. Just one question, how difficult is the installation of a new exhaust?

installing it is not bad. but getting the old one off can be a pain. unless you have a way to heat up the bolts to get it off
