Ive had ppl tell me, and also read it in a few place but never was told y. They say with and LED to sand down the dome on the top of it but never really said much else. Is this simply to make it fit some were smaller or does doing that get ride of the "dot" out infront of the led and make it just "glow" more instead of projecting more of a beam of light?

Sorry if its a dumb question and thanks!

it does both.

i suppose you could look at it and say it does make it smaller. i've never really heard of someone doing it for that reason, but it does make it shorter.

the biggest reason for it, it to spread the light more. the "dome" end of it, focuses the light to usually 30 degrees. sanding that down flat makes it closer to 180 degrees.

connect one, and shine it (unsanded)
connect the second one and shine it next to the other (sanded)

there is quite a noticable difference.

if you have a belt sander or dremel (rotatory tool) use that. make your life easier. i've tried sand paper, and that acrylic isn't easy to sand by hand.

i wonder what that would do to the underglow under my car . I was tryin something new that i havent ever seen before. SO i bought some LED's on a string and hooked them up under my car (front, sides, rear) with 3m tape. It looks good, because it's just little dots (very bright tho). I wonder if i sanded the ends down what it would look like, it may not be bright enough though..........hmmmmmm i might try it. thx for the idea
