Down to the last couple wires on swap... need help

Ok, here goes... I have a 97 Sunfire w/ a 3400 from a 2001 Grand Am under the hood. After pouring through SI comparing schematics and whatnot, I have 2 last questions that maybe someone can answer.

1) The PCM/ECM pinout shows C1-55 as the Vehicle Speed Signal. I'm assuming this is the wire that goes to the speedo on the ICM? Also is that the one that is 4000 ppm output?

2) I have an aftermarket fan controller (SPAL) that has its own 2-wire sensor to trip the fans on and off rather than use the stock wiring. This will eliminate the need to recalibrate the controller if the battery is disconnected. Apparently somewhere on the firewall side of the block there is a coolant passage that can be used for this sensor. Anyone know where exactly this coolant passage is located? I don't want to pull the rear head to drill/tap...

For the coolant, you could "T" off the intake coolant line, or use that if you bypassed thought the TB

I glanced at some diagrams and it looks like C1-55 (circuit 817) from the PCM goes to the cruise control module. This is for a 1999, so I'm not sure if it changed after that or not.

Same for 2k1 apparently (never bothered to check the cruise control since I very seldom use it and didn't get the module w/ the engine), but I have an aftermarket speedo that needs a 4k ppm source wire. The 2 wire VSS isn't that great of a source (I think its 8k then the PCM converts that to 4k for the output)

Intake coolant line, that's the black pipe that runs from the water pump to the rear head, right?

That line for the cruise should work alright, it works good for the navigation too.

Your speedometer can be calibrated, right?

For the coolant temp, look up document ID 686347 in SI. It'll show ya the locations for the coolant drain plug, front and rear.

Only "problem" with the cruise wire is that starting from a dead stop, there's a delay till I hit 10mph then it starts working... I'm using HPT to fine tune the speed output (using the mile markers on the freeway). I have it down to +.1 miles over a 10 mile stretch on the odometer. Close enough.

Ditched Linux, put in XP. But I have a removable drawer for my HDD, so I can get another HDD and tinker w/ Linux later. Having HPT at my fingertips (literally) FTW

went from the 2.2, which has about 3 hamster power. So there was a significant difference.

And as for the HPT part... works like this

Now, on a side note.... from Spokane to Seattle I had no tunes

Computer was being buggy, so I fired up HPT (where the above pic came from). The entire time, my coolant temp stayed between 183-187. I'm guessing that's not the normal temp?

I wouldn't see those temps as being a problem. Heck, the stock thermostat is 195°F.
