Front Mount Intake
I know guy who crapped out his Civic and is parting it. The intake sparked my interest. I've always wondered how efficient they were. Guy says it worked great. I know the piping won't match, so i was thinking about some RS Akimoto Spiral Flex tubing:

I've never heard any reviews on this thing. My only concern is would it really worth the work and would it restrict the radiator. I know people put intercoolers up front all the time, but me and my radiator have a somewhat sordid past

I'd be more afraid of sucking up bugs or having my intake clogged by such.

^ that's what grille mesh is for
IMO, if you have to pay anything more for this thing than a "built for alero" intake, then it's not worth it. And I mean parts and fab materials combined.

you could make that piping work, youll just have to cut it to fit(im assuming you have the 3400, if u got a 4cyl all bets are off)

He's giving me the intake, no charge along with couplers. Only thing I'd have to supply is the tubing and I can fabricate my own brackets. And i know the intakes for the 3400 (what I have) are effective. I've been following the reviews for years but never got one because I could never wrap my mind around the benefit of mounting in the engine bay or wheel well. The obvious choice to me was always in the direct path of the air. And if I gotta spend a little extra for some fab work, hey at least i can be satisfied with fact that i'll be the only Al with it. That's what it's all about, right? And hell, it's been months since me and Al have had a project

Hey, I remember that Al from years ago..........and seeing "for sale" ads everywhere for it. Used to go into epileptic shock whenever I saw the interior. Didnt take any close-up shots of the front end though nor talk whether the intake worked or not. And whoever bought isn't braggin on it or making themselves none. So once I knock it out........

Wow thats freakin ricer-riffic right there.
But I will say there are things I do like about the vehicle. The orange interior is just to much for me but i like the seats. The headlights are also pretty trick and look good matching the graphics. But it definatly has its down sides.

WOuldn't all the bends in the tubing required to route it to your intake, make it overly restrictive? I though the best idea is as few bends as possible. Also, I agree with the "suck up alot of rain" concept as mentioned earlier/

I'm not sure about that one, But i know i've seen other ones that had a lexan shield to go in front of it for that specific purpose.

I know the ones you're talking about, Cliff. But I've got a piece of plexi glass just doing nothing in my trunk, so it would be a simple matter dremeling it to shape and drilling some holes. But if you have grill mesh and the car is lowered, it's gonna be a PITA replacing/removing it especially in the rain. As for numerous bends, the only extra bend would be from the intake and up. Other than that, it will still run the same pattern as a standard intake
But anyway, I'm not gonna keep this thread alive and constantly have people asking "Have ya done it" or "What's the hold up". All I really wanted to know is if anyone heard any good performance reviews about it, but I got more cons than pros. I'll just do it and post pics when I can. Thanx for the comments

For anyone that cares
http://www.pbase.com/ciscopath/fmi
I'm gonna give it a week to see how it handles performance-wise and check the rain aspect. It definitely sounds better than my WAI, but if it runs like crap, at least I only invested around 45 dollars and 4 hours into it. I know it looks kinda out of place. There are clearance and piping issues that can easily be fixed but only after determining it's worth it
