^ i was referring to "american" as domestic cars, as apposed to import. Not referring to nationality of the poster. sorry to not clarify.

Yeah, we all know there are a few idiots out there, but to slap that label on as a generalization, you truly disappointed me for the first time. This place is getting rediculous.
My name's Chris too. Funny you thought he was steroptyping against his own country, LOL. I knew he was talking about the "american muscle/domestic" concept.

I didn't want the boost just for the sound, that would just be a benifit. I can't afford one right now and would take me forever to save up (especially because I'm in school and will have loans, I HATE being in debt). I dunno I mean if I could do a little something for a few hundred I def would... my car is 100% stock but I just bought an intake off ebay for like 40 bucks... any other mods you might suggest are appreciated. But I would rather not spend more than a few hundred. Plus with the s/c don't you need to upgrade your engine and stuff? I am a newb when it comes to cars, I can't even find a 2.4l turbo on ebay lmfao. Only 2.2's. Gayness.

lol they don't sell engine specific turbochargers you have to know which one to get, it's the exhaust manifold that's completely engine specific

you need:
- bigger injectors
- t3/t4 turbo (common choice)
- 2.4L LD9 turbo manifold
- new downpipe
- wastegate (if not included in above)
- intercooler
- charge piping
- blow off valve
- TUNE

I never said that imports can't be tuned and be fast, but all the imports I see around here, have boost gauges and an obvousily fake BOV.

Have you ever see a turboed Civic run 18's in the 1/4 mile, neither have I, but I see one making that BOV noise, only to see the car in the pits with the hood open. Guess what, NO TURBO. That is a ricer

Back OT

Turbo kits for LD9 and the LA1 are all custom. They can be done, but it's probably cheaper (and a lot less of a headache) to just get the s/c kit, right from GM

is it worth getting even if I'm only doing little things to my car? (all stock with new wai soon). I would like to upgrade my car to which I can afford it. I can't believe an exhaust system is so much. like 5-600? My friend said he paid like 150-200 but that must have been just the exhaust? He has a flowmaster on his charokee (sp?).

depends on car, depends on mechanic, depends on parts, depends on the deal.

ask around to find out if anyone "knows a guy" or if there are any good exhaust shops around...

i'd probably start out with other, smaller stuff, until you get the "hang" of modding your car, and also by then you might have heard some info about locals where you can find a deal.

well my problem isn;t with installing the system, it's the parts themselves. My friend had our other mutual friend install his exhaust... but the exhausts I see run like 500 compared to what he claimed paying 200 with free install.

Well if you are going to do a S/C system, I would do the exhaust now (headers back) and if you are going turbo it's pointless to do the headers now,(but you could still do cat back) becuase you are going to replace them with the kit anyway.

Figure out what you are going to do first, then save your money and do it

^^ Very true.

More time you spend reseaching, the less money you'll spend in the long run.

You have a powerful tool, use it
