they say to use an EZout to remove it, but i dont see how the tool ( think its called a "T tool" or somthing like that) you use to twist the easy out will fit in the tight space

EZouts are great but i dont think it is a smart idea to attempt anything while the head is on the car. if you get shavings in your cylinder you will ruin it, end of story. you come to us asking for advise and we give it. if you want to try and crazy glue a wooden stick to a rope with a piece of chewing gum at the end to fix your problems then go for it. if you want to do it right and tear down to the block and do a complete engine overhaul and have your engine last another few years then i would start listening to the people in this thread and stop listening to yahoo answers or where ever you are getting these retarded scenarios.

are you a mechanic? (serious question)

Because I asked a mechanic today and he said the loose shaving are the least of the troubles. and no matter if i had the head in the car or on my kitchen table, that I would have to do the same thing.
And if i wanted to take off the head, it would cost more than the car is worth

Man! it's not that hard & it wont cost you much if you remove the head on your own & bring it to a shop to fix it but do not bring it to the "bozo" guy that gives you those answers take your head somewhere else (other garage...)

If your not to sure on how to remove the head by yourself just get the infos you need buy a haynes book or something , take note on everything you get out so you wont have problems put it back together , take some pictures or video if you have to & take your time , you should be able to do it on your own + we are all here to help you out (others more then me)

Next time don't over tighten your spark plugs 1/4 turn max.

Hahah this is a joke right?

But yes im trying to remove the head and im taking my time
So far ive removed:
Intake
Valve cover
Fuel rail
Exhaust Manifold
Headers (just got a couple more left)
Drained the coolant

But i need detailed instructions on how to remove the timing chain correctly. But after that, I just have to drain the oil and take off any misc. bolts that are attached to the head and then I can take it off.

shouldnt have to drain the oil before you pull the head, but definitely change it soon after you get it all back together, and you have a timing belt, you should be able to remove the timing belt cover and there is a timing belt tension device, just move the tension device to relive the tension on the belt and its off. i have the la1 and i had to change my heads, i did it in 8 hours in a advanced auto parking lot in Florida, just invest in a good torque wrench, and clean the head and block mating surfaces really good

dude....i said how many times TAKE IT TO A SHOP. if you have to ask all these stupid questions over and over:
1. i doubt you have the proper tools
2. i doubt you have the proper skills/patience to get this done correctly.

if you want to stick a drill bit into your cylinder and score up the walls then go ahead...see how long your engine lasts.

you said that there is orange liquid leaking out of the block. i already told you its your coolant (DEX-COOL)

why would it be leaking from the block? bad gasket.

know what that means? rip the engine down to the block and do an overhaul with new gaskets and head bolts....or don't. see how long the engine lasts when its leaking/mixing/burning coolant and oil.

done.

I already told spc2125 I would help him fix the problem when I go back home. He is making it harder than it has to be. I have the proper tools right in my tool box in my car and at school.

And yes i know.....

Im planning on taking the head off and bringing it to a shop, or worst case i buy a used head from a guy on ecotecforum.com

But one i take the head off and have it machined, then ill change all the gaskets and put in new head bolts.

That sounds good

You do have a torque wrench/ratchet as jawa told you?
If not get one because you can't just tight the head bolts & forget about it , it needs to be torque specification no way around this one or you'll get in to engine trouble

Also since JLw7123 offer his help take it if you need to & specially if you not sure on how to do all of this

Might be a bit of a "big" job but done correctly you'll be happy or your self & more knowledge to you

then why the eff are you attempting to do anything with the head on the car if you know you have to take it off? the car obviously isn't drivable right now so you might as well take the head off and stop being a bitch about it

kind of sounds like whats has happened...

AND

you have to start some where some time. taking a head off for the first time is a very daunting task especially for someone who is not mechanically inclined. questions are all part of the game and its up to US, the people that have the experience to teach to not tell... but to guide and let them learn either the hard way or the right way.

and remember...

a human put it together once...
it can be torn down and put together again.
