"aftermarket" alternator

When I installed my stereo my stock alternator wasn't holding up properly so I replaced it. At first the pully I received was to big so the place sent me another one. The voltage is ok but the belt I have is a 4 groove belt (whatever the word is) and they sent me a 5 groove alternator. Would it be in my best interest to replace it because I was told it's wearing out the belt which it looks like it might be doing. Anybody know a website I can get a decent pully from????

I guess I could maybe do that. Wouldn't just getting a pulley be cheaper though??

Since the stock belt was 4 groove, wouldn't the rest of the pulleys be 4 groove also? If that is the case, you'd be better off getting a new pulley.

^^ Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking. I am going to go with an ever smaller pulley so hopefully at idle everything is being charged properly and less lights dimming, especially with the music up. There's a website "alternatorparts.com" that sells them for under 20.00. Hopefully it's a good website because that's cheap.

Has anybody ever ordered or heard anything about the website alternatorparts.com?? today i'm probably going to order a 2" diameter 4 groove alternator pulley from them. They do accept paypal which is a good thing. That's really the only place I could find alternator pulley's that size. Anybody know of anywhere else I can get one????
