Tire Question

I recently got myself a set of 18"s , the tires do not rub when turning, a pretty much perfect fit. I have stock suspension and after mounting them on my car shakes a lot when doing 60+. There was some light shaking with my stock rims but with the new ones its a more violent shake. My alignment is slightly off to the right.

My question is: Is the shaking due to the stock suspension? Alignment? Or what else could cause this???

Appreciate the help guys.

Tires aren't balanced.

Check the lugs too, you're supposed to check them on custom wheels after the first 25 miles

ok ill answer all the questions

- The lugs are extra extra tight so I doubt thats it.
- The guy who sold the rims had them balanced before he sold them to me and I see the weights are fairly new. So Idk about that one.

-Hub centric rings? I don't have them, what do they do exactly and do I necessarily need them???

Do recall that my car was also shaking with my stock alero rims with fresh tires/ balanced and everything.. My only guess is the alignment???

Or could there be other possible causes besides the ones mentioned above

Thanks for all the help people. I feel the love

get the rings what rim companys do is make the hub hole bigger so it fit more vehicals what the rings do is make up the difference from our hub size to there hole right now the lugs are the only thing holding it on where as the fact whees or with the rings it wil actully hold on the hub also go to a rim shop and ask them about it there about 12bucks for a set of 4

I checked it earlier, the hub is like very close to the rims hub diameter. So ill assume that I do need the rings regardless since everyone says its good to have. I'll go to my local town fair tire to see if they sell them.

Thanks for the help pimpalero2003 even though that kick hurt my nads!

Rings aren't 100% necessary. I've never used them and never had a problem and I know others are the same way.

Get an alignment done. If it was shaking with stock rims, and you know it's not perfectly aligned, I'm guessing that's your problem.

I got a set of 20's from Ebay that had already been balanced, but on my car they shook terrible at 60mph and up. Geet new tirews and got them rebalanced and it's fine now.

Balance them babies, it's only like $8 a tire.

now that they have been on your car a while you should just take them in and get them balanced again see if that helps. won't cost too much.

your supposed to torque the rims after you put them on (torque all the rims to 50 ft/lbs, then go around them again and torque them to 100 ft/lbs), then after driving 20 miles, re-torque them to 100 ft/lbs.

I dont think the lugs would be loose, cause if they were your car would shake when you are going 20-30-40 mph...... I think they need to be balanced

My car does the SAME EXACT THING. It shakes violently at 60+ and pulls to the right. This happened right as i got new rims/tires. I got them balanced at the local tire and shop and it still does it. Then another shop told me my outer steering tie rod was messed up, so i replaced it and it still does it! I have no clue on how to fix this. You guys say balance them but it did this even after they were balanced.
