6.5 in the door.

hey guys, i know this has been covered but i bought a nice new 4 channel amp. and my 5 1/4 speakers up front are blown and can't quite handle the power, so i was going to get a new set, but this amp would love some 6.5 components.

can i get an mdf 6.5 ring and put it in my door. i could try to dremel away some of the low parts of the door panel.

i remember cherrington mentioning someone actually putting 6.5s in the doors without fiber glass

i used the trim ring from the grill as a spacer with some low density foam as a filler. works very well to this day. what are looking for components wise? im looking to sell my focal 6.5s pictured with rainbow cal25 tweeters and custom tweeter pods where the factory tweeters go.

Are you just not feeling 5.25"s or?

Because you can find just as many 5.25"s that will handle the same power as the 6.5"s will.

I have only had experience stepping up from factory 4x6"s to the Fosgate Power Series 5.25" component system. I had to make an mdf spacer to get the motor and basket to fit through the cutout a bit.

Ryan from Ohio will become famous soon enough
^I followed his lead. It was a novel idea.

The big thing is making sure you rotate the speakers so the screws fall into area's that cant be seen. For example, on my panels the screws went into the grille mesh area- which is melted so its non removable. One went only into white plastic but didnt come out the face where you could see.

I chose to use clear silicone then to seal the speaker 100%. Worked AWESOME.
