My adventure in driving home

Well, this year's drive home was very interseting.

It started in Ohio, about MM 110. About 6 to 8 cars all zipped by us and this one POS mid 90's Plymouth Voyger cut out a tractor trailer, then figured it would be a good idea to hit a construction cone (one of the big round ones) Well when he hit it, he swerved back into his lane, but used too much swerving to do it. He lost control of the van, spun around 2 times all over the place. I said to myself "Don't hit the tractor" and the tractor tried to change lanes to adviod being hit. But the rear of the van slamed into the side of the tractor, glass exploded all over the highway. The van then spun again, the nose hit the very back of the last axle on the tractor, and spun again and the rear of the van hit the trailer again. If he didn't hit the tractor the van would have gone under the trailer and the trailer would have ran over the van. The van spun about 1.5 or 2.5 more times and stopped facing the wrong way. In the 2nd spin, 2 wheels left the ground. The ahoe was lucky the van didn't flip. The first words outta my mouth was "effing idiot".

We pulled over (we were the 2nd car behind the tractor trailer) and everybody pilled outta the van. Nobody was hurt. One girl asked for band-aids because she was in the back and got glass all over her legs. I had to tell the guy to turn off the van becasue it was leaking gas. He turned it off. The tractor trailer stopped about 1/2 mile down the road. We made sure everybody was OK, then we took off.

The next stop was Summit Racing in Tallmadge, OH. What a beautiful store. If you are ever in the area, I sugest stopping and checking it out. I did buy some stuff. I got 75w-90 Royal Purple gear oil and a new 3.75 inch tach for the Delta and new front brakes for my Mom's Cavailer. The store is huge and they have stuff all over the place. It reminded me of that commerical that was out when e-commerce started and people were walking around putting grand pianos and cars in shopping carts.

The store is right next to I-76, so going home, no big deal. Just jummped right back on 76 and drove another 400 miles or so to home.

The 3rd thing that happened, we stopped in Rochseter, PA for so everybody could eat lunch. While we were eating, a 97 or 98 Cutlass pulled up, and the driver and passager got out, a very old couple, maybe in thier late 70's. They were Amish!! Full blown Amish They walked into the service center (don't know what for) got back in the car, and the Amish woman took over driving Can't say I've ever seen that before.

Then around Harrisburg, we spotted 2 hot air ballons in the air, by the time we got to Downingtown ( over 100 miles ) we caught up to them and Linda took a few pics. The camera really zoomed in on them.

The last thing was paying the toll in PA. It's $19 once you get the ticket at MM 30 (it's $3 from OH to MM 30) The kid working the booth looked at the ticket, then at the car. He was trying to figure out where we were comming from. I guess they don't get too many "cross-staters" there and he looked new too.

Well that was my homeword bound adventure. This was the most eventful trip home to date .

Left Lansing at 8:12 am, got home at 8:44 pm

couldn't have been "full blown" amish, cuz they wouldn't have been driving. but i'm guessing they are one of the lesser strict sects.

but sounds like that was quite the ride home. for stopping and checking on those people. i know alot of people who'd just drive by and hope they were fine.
