not to bust your balls here but if you have no clue as to what this thing does then maybe it wouldn't be a mod for you. i mean maybe you should do a little more research before jumping in with both feet. granted it is a plug and play type deal. but there are a few other things you have to do once you install it as well. the pcm needs to relearn the security modes before the car will even start. like i said i am not trying to bust your balls but this may not be something for you. just my .02
there are a lot of people on here that will help you out if ned be or give you the info you need myself included.

what!? :huh?:
so am i asking this "jason" guy for a grand am SE or a olds Alero PCM? [/b][/quote]
well what kind of car do you have? an alero man. ask about a custom alero tune with whatever mods you have (or plan on in the short future) it may cost more if you get it custom for anything other than intake and exhaust.

Im not quite sure why you would want to make this your first mod.
The stock PCM has enough range in it to handle most bolt on changes and still run efficiently.
Its not like you send for the chip and you see a huge improvement. There is no 50 hp gain from the chip.

^^^^Agreed, Do intake and Exhaust first, then if you still want the PCM, then get it.
Or, Get the shift kit, it's only $40.
