Where at in Ohio?
What sub?
What enclosure?
If you want to run about 2000 WRMS you will need a HO alt.

HO Alt is a High Output Alternator, It keeps your battery charged and your voltage up. With that much power you're gonna need one :o and upgrade your power wire to id say 0 gauge

If you get two 1000w amps, you're still running 2000w.

0 gauge power and ground wires is ideal but you'll be fine with 4 gauge. As for the amp, what you want is an amp with RMS rating that is the same or higher than the RMS rating on your sub. You should be fine with even lower RMS rating amps but not recommend if you plan to crank your stereo to the max all the time. If you just want some good bass at comfortable listening levels, basic amps with RMS rating around 300 to 400 watts is plenty of power. My guess on your sub is the 1500 watt is peak power. Typically, the RMS power is about a third to one half of the peak power except very high end subs which will be very close or the same as the posted rating. Also if the enclosure is ported meaning there are air vents on the enclosure, then you will require less amplify power.
Good luck.

I have a feeling that this single 1500W sub isn't RMS power, most likely peak output. A brand and model # would help before you think of getting a new alternator or running 0 guage lines.

if you give us the make and model of the sub we can search for the specs an find out what the RMS power on it is, max wattage doesnt matter because in reality it will never really go past the RMS its rated at
