short ram installed now tranny clunks

CEL popped on and the tranny clunks now after i took my CAI off and put a short ram on. god i effing hope i forgot to plug something in. I would be pissed if my tranny is shot. I also had my buddy put my new tie rod in and eyeball align it. then test drive it to make sure its okay. he says he babied the car on the drive and he has never lied to me before so i have no reason to disbelieve him. could an unplugged maf cause the tranny clunking and the cel?

Usually anything left unplugged connect to intake/thorttle body will make the car act up. Double check all connections, unplug battery for an hour and see what happens. If you were to unplug a maf do some work in that area, ( battery still connected) then put intake all back together and plug maf in, you should have no problems once you started the car, ive done tons of work on the car without disconnecting the battery with no problems.

It's the IAT. Obviously. It always is. When it's unplugged it defaults to -40 F and the transmission shift properties are set to maximum pressure.

The unplugged MAF also causes the tranny to shift that hard. The car goes into speed density mode which does all air metering based on the MAP. During tuning I unplug my MAF to force the car into speed density mode. The first time I did this and shifted my car into drive, the shift was so hard that the engine stalled lol. I'm assuming when you first fired up the car, the RPMs must have been all over the place as well.

Unless you're planning to buy new tires very soon then you should get the alignment checked...some shops will check it for free or at low cost.

I replaced both tie-rod ends on mine and even counted the threads to make sure the new parts were installed exactly the same. Took it in for an alignment and the front end was 2 degrees out of spec with the wheels pointed in.

So your choice here is to either get it checked or risk wearing out your front tires which would be much more expensive than an alignment check.
