I think that bigd6983 asked about RAP, not RDS.

RAP is Retained Accessory Power.

That means the radio / CD / tape player continues to play for up to 10 minutes after the ignition is turned off and the key is removed. It stops as soon as the drivers door is opened.

acording to that, there's front speakers, front midrange, front tweetes, same for the rears, or when it says "speaker" is it refering to a input, as in comming from the deck?

i just need to know when i disconect my 6x9's, what wire is + and - for the woofer, and the tweeter

and also for the front 4x6, which is + and - for both the midrange and the tweeter.

also, how big is the power wire feeding the amp, would it be possible to replace the amp with a 4 channel WITHOUT running a new power wire?, or anyone know what the amp is fused at? that would help

I have a 2001 gls with the sun and sound package. I too bought my car in Oct. '00. I have a monsoon amp in the left side of the trunk behind the liner. I went to Circuit City and bought an after market headunit. They put the factory headunit in the trunk with an adaptor to keep my chimes working. Sorry, I don't know too much about how they did it or how it works.

bringing up post from the dead now, haha.

Well I'll tell you what I did, I bought a $15 harness, which everything work great for, except I had to run my own switched power, which is easy, because the ignition is right on ther dash by the deck. Now because I have the class II system, I had to do this.

I also removed the monsoon amp because I was getting a lot of feedback from it (hissing noise), put some resistors on the tweaters to keep them from blowing, and it has worked great since.

Now, I have no idea if your car has the class II system or not, not sure when the changed to that system. But if your door chime comes from the front left speaker, then you do.

2000 alero, chime on driver side or actually it sounds like its in the middle, but I have changed my Factory H/D unit twice and haven't needed the bypass or had to relocate anything.

i have a 2002 gls, used my wiring harness from my 2000 cavalier ls... i have a factory amp in the trunk, but all it runs now is the front door speakers... and its not for long... they will be custom soon... i have a clarion deck, infinity inside, and cerwins in the trunk all running off 3 audiobahn amps... and by the way, i have no rap or chimes... and i dont really care... it saves my battery with that much power going to my stuff

Help!

I bought a Pioneer 3900 Deck. Colour matched the wires and all that jazz, Got the cheap 10 dollar wiring harness... Now, I'm reading something about an external power source and Tapping a Fuse?

1. Is that right?

2. If so, How do I tap a fuse?

you dont need to tap into the fuse, you can just jump onto a wire that ignition powered, use a test light to see which lines are powered when you have the ignition on, but when turned off they dont have power, if you must, you can wrap the thread of the wire around one of the prongs on an ignition powered fused and plug the fuse back in (same as jumping it to a wire that ignition powered)

See, I don't have a test bulb. What i need is something that will allow me to tap into the ignition powered system. As for tapping into a fuse, if it's not hard then i'll do that. But What i'm looking for is that Stereo to Lose Power when the car is off. I have a Lighting System separate from the Car's system, I could tap into that but it doesn't seem like a good idea because i'd probably forget to turn off the headunit.

fuse "K" on the driver fuse box, check the inside of the fuse panel cover to see which one K is.
