i did have to relocate the O2 bung on mine. so, finding a stainless O2 bung in this area was a little tough. also, there was an extra piece of tubing on the one side that led from the flange to the one header pipe, really weird. i had a local guy cut that off and smooth it over, and also mount the O2 bung. the stupid thing is, he bent my flange in the process. so, we had to heat the thing up to get it to seal properly. i'm still not sure if it's right.
i'm taking the thing in the week to get looked at again. the exhaust is hitting the suspension in the back at times, and they didn't weld in a new downstream bung.

I agree But I'll bet a supercharger is a lot less of a pain. You are talking about the GM supercharger right and not RSM?

only prob with a supercharger(not that its a problem to complain about lol) is that at the track you'll be way more prone to spinning out then in a turbo'd cuz of the turbo lag...on the street tho, s/c would be funner to run...and less of a pain as spilner said

Naw...lag is almost non-existant with the right turbo. If you keep it revved enough before your launch you can launch in boost. But yeah, that split second it takes the turbo to start spooling will let you get traction

its personal preference/use that'll be the deciding factor really....for strict street, s/c is funner to run no doubt...but i personally like a turbo for the split second of lag off the line like me and spilner were discussing lol

i got all of my parts either from ebay or a local supplier. the dynomax muffler and tips came from a local guy, while the header, cat, and resonator are from ebay.

I dont know how long you will be able to find them and if GM will continue to do programing for the n-body, since they sold all of the remaining superchargers to knights performance. Hope it works out for ya and if you need help let me know.

Duck.....
-Turbos use wasted energy (exhaust) to make power instead of using engine power to make power.
-Turbos are more effecient air pumps than superchargers, so at the same boost level it'll produce more air and cooler air and therefore more power.
-The right size turbo will spool with virtually no lag and will reach peak boost early in the RPM range, meaning an earlier gain in power. Since the supercharger is belt driven, it doesn't reach peak boost until redline.
And one thing that is better about the supercharger setup is that it's easier to install, because there are less parts and you can use the entire stock exhaust system. With the turbo you have to at least replace part of the downpipe.
My final word...
Two cars being identcial (same engine, parts, weight) one having a supercharger, the other having a turbo, both running the same boost level, the turbo car will be quicker and faster every time. Street, drag, roadcourse, autocross...Turbos are better
[The preceding is my, and many others, personal opinion but I give good reasons for this choice of opinion ]

i called knights about the supercharger. they are selling the rsm superchargers, and are also able to order the gm supercharger. i should be able to get the supercharger through pace, correct? and the reflash shouldnt be an issue if i get it done before i leave for iraq. not sure how it would affect a non supercharged alero. hopefully it would still run, lol. not sure.

I'm pretty sure they just superseded the part number on that supercharger..
OLD - 12498287
NEW - 12498660
may be wrong but it doesn't hurt to check...
