lug screw-pin sheared off

Hello

One of the things where you attach the wheel nut (a threaded pin?) has broken, do I need to replace the entire bearing or can I replace an individual of these?

Lug stud.

Is it front or rear?

If its the front I THINK you have to replace the whole hub.

If its the rear, little bit of effort with a hammer you can pound out the bad stud, buy a new stud to go in place from an auto store (ive done it twice on the rear)

The front ive snapped once as well and replaced the whole wheel hub.

Its the front one of course!

I found a picture on the forum of a bearing, looks like the hither most lug stud should be able to be removed? Maybe if I'm lucky..

It looks like the studs could be removed. Cant hurt to try. If you cant get it off, then best off just replacing the whole assembly.

Honestly I believe thats how mine have went but its also been a long time since I have broke one. Mind is a little fuzzy on the front if I could replace the front studs or not. But I know for sure the rear you can pop out the bad and pop in a new.

Give it a try and let me know what happens.

If the hub has to be replaced its an easy job. 3 bolts on the back, one abs plug. And it pulls off the end of the axle. It might be stubborn at first so hit it with a hammer around the edges to break it free. The hardest part is if its attached to the axle spline fairly well by rust. But its not impossible to remove.

yeah you can get it out by hammering it and install a new one in front.
I'm not sure but a little bit of grinding will be needed on one side of the ''head'' of the stud because it's a tight fit to clear the knuckle...

Worked good! Bought a stud for 2 bucks, the car shop hammered it in for 45 bucks and finished it off with a nut for 3 bucks.

$45 isn't bad at all. I got quoted $120 to do that on my Cutlass Supreme.... and it would be done next day. You know what I did? Got one of my messed up Craftsman screwdrivers, grabbed my mallet, and hammered the hell out of that stud. Then I grabbed a spare nut, my torque ratchet and torqued the hell out of that stud to get it back into place since I had no space to get to anything thanks to the caliper being in the way.

25 minutes later, a big ass screwdriver (to hold the hub as I got the nut back off), and I was done.

Shops charge too much for incompetence.
