Got bored today and started fabrication on all the components of the liquid intercooler and chiller for the turbo. Others have stated from 50-75% reduction in temperature using the chiller setup. Front you can see the additional radiator (precooler), on the left is where the chiller will sit (powered by an additional A/C core) and on the right you can see the intercooler exchanger (just outside the fenderwell on the driver's side).

Routing will start at the chiller, pass through the intercooler core, then through the radiator for precooling again, then back into the chiller. If you would like to use a similar setup without an A/C core, you can set up a barrel (like a one-gallon bucket for example) with a ice/water/salt combo with a submerged oil cooler core inside.

Current concerns are that by running the A/C in advance of (not during) the race may cause condensation to drip and get expelled from the staging line

The following image is a mock-up before final install to make sure everything sets where I want it and all the lines can be routed where I need. If you'll note, the radiator is mounted forward of the cross brace to give ample room for the dual 2" fans behind it, and also so it does not sit directly into contact with a 200 degree engine coolant radiator.

me either. Only thing I dont have on hand is the headers, and the ARP head studs. If I was having the standard log headers done I could be assembling the remainder at this time, but I opted for fully merged turbo headers and am waiting to do it right.

I know I keep telling everyone that log headers are fine for the street, and they are. I'm planning on focusing more for max HP at the track, hence the headers and supercooler setup.

Currently I'm toying with the idea of a supercooler setup like that for the transmission cooler as well. As everyone knows, the biggest tranny killer is heat (and torque breakage, hahaha) so I guess the next purchase is another A/C core and tranny temp guage. I guess I should revamp the system, and put a mega-chiller setup in the trunk where there's plenty of room, heh. Guess there's going to be no sound system for me

That's that way to do it though, then you only got to do it 1x.

Sound system, read above...full exhaust, inc. headers, plus the noise of the turbo and BOV, who the hell needs a sounds system????

Seriously looks great though.

Thank you kindly.

Here's another shot, MAF with integrated IAT sensor (5-wire) from a C-5 vette. Only MAF I can find that will read excess of 18psi without spending a mint. And the MAP will read 3 bar, which should be just enough for the insane boost I'll be running. Obviously I'm ditching the stock IAT sensor for this one. As you can imagine, I'm going to have to do some serious tuning in the PCM to get everything to read correctly. This should match up nicely to the custom TB and UIM that's being hammered out.

Left side is stock MAF, right side is the replacement. Not sure how well you can see the difference, but it should be noticeable.

so far I'm bouncing between:

1) a heavily built 4t45 which will include a true preload LSD, Raybestos Blue Plates, Kolene treated steels, Sonex valve body, hardened input/output shafts, aluminum accumulator pistons and hardened 3rd/4th shafts, reworked oil pump/shaft (remainder still being analyzed)

2) a 4t65e-HD built by Certified Transmissions (same as ZZPerformance uses) and a PCM transplant from a '03 Impala which is already coded as a 3400/4t65 combination.

either way will most likely use (not sure yet) somewhere around 4000 stall speed converter unless I go through with the 50-shot in which it will more than likely be reduced to about 2800, reworked turbines/impellers and anti-ballooning plates (again, being still being calculated out). Streetability still an issue with that though, imagine the police pulling up next to me at a light and not being able to go without chirping
