You'll have to work pretty hard to get rid of that raspy sound that comes out of the V6 right around 2250 RPM. It almost seems to be inherent to the design of the V6/60. I had 3 2.8s that did it, my 3400 does it and I've even seen non GMs do it. Adding a resonator should mellow it out though. That noise doesn't really bother me all that much as my 3400 is extremely loud for what it is.

i still think the best thing you can get is the flowmaster 80 camaro style, sounds really good in and out of car, adds some goos power and looks awsome, its what i have and i could NEVER be happier

Oh well Ima experiment.Â;-) If I dont like it, Ill put the SLP back on and ebay them.Â;-) Im changin solely for loox, not performance and sound.Â;-) But if it sounds like I have a hole in my exaust system....off they come.

Keep us in mind once you figure out which direction you're gonna go in, I'm interested in some exhaust components, maybe we can work a deal on somethin' Pimp. B) [/b][/quote]

Can't really say, that's a very subjective question because it's dependent on what you want it to sound like. My 3400 has a 3-disc CCI insert muffler.

like i said, i dont want dual exhaust. if i did, id have gone with the magnaflow camaro style, because those are supposed to sound pretty good, thats why i thought this would.
i have a few more ideas for making it sound better, but im going to wait to see what this does. i wanted to get a way from a muffler with baffles, to reduce backpressure (top end), but to keep a smaller pipe to keep good velocity (torque)

if you really want power and torque and stuff, just do some bigger mods like headers and ported heds and manifolds, and ported throttle body, maybe even throw in a turbo or super kit, then you will have good performance

An alternative to the camaro style magnaflow would've been this one.

i think he just meant the gain between the two wouldnt be noticeable, and why not choose something that 10+ people have said sounded good, and with sound clips to back it up.... that's all.
i really thought magnaflow would be better though, it's really too bad. everything they have sounds really good (their gti stuff is sweet too)
hopefully this res helps you out.

well, just as a update, i went to the muffler shop yesterday.
i spent 20 minutes arguing with the guy because my tips were crooked. i said i wanted 1 to stick out more than the other when i had them installed, when the car was done the hole muffler and tips came out slanted, but to his defense followed the curve of the muffer...but looked like poop. he has the nerve to say "why do you care, you cant see the tips when your driving" and "lots of cars have the muffler and tips comming out slanted - and when i say which ones? - he goes "ummmm, bmw has one, jaguar" i said BS, they do not and he says "that car over there does" as he points to a pickup that has the exhaust comming out the side like 99% of all trucks.....
so after all that, i didn't want him to put the resonator on because im tired of dealing with that guy, but i did get the tips straitened out for free. ill have it put on tonight or tomorrow morning hopefully
Also, my girlfriend said it wasn't to bad outside the car, loud but not really too obnoxious, but agreed it was way to loud inside the car

I'm not gonna say "told ya so" but.....I do remember back when you were asking bout which exhaust you should get and I mentioned going w/ SLP rather than Magnaflow because magnaflow sounds more rice-y. I had the flowmaster 80-series on my car (muffler back...stock piping up to it) and it sounded nice but the performance was crap...I think it hurt me more than anything. When I put on my SLP catback I INSTANTLY noticed a HP gain(which makes me think my flowmaster setup hurt me). I also like the tone/sound of the SLP better than the Flowmaster. I've had both..and I'd go with SLP if I were you. Best bang for the buck.

dude, your comparing flowmaster to slp. flowmaster doesn't flow much over stock, thats why you noticed a gain.
the magnaflow camaro muffler sounds awesome, ive heard it. lots of GA guys switch out the SLP for the magnaflow because its quiter and isn't all raspy
the reason this one is so loud is because its a short body strait through, no baffles or turns in it. i just havn't had time to get a bigger resonator put on it.
