how important are these things? My passenger-side windshield weather strip has been on loose for months (and when I get faster than 60mph, it flopped around) and then today it finally flew off in rush hour traffic on the thruway.

Basically: do I NEED to replace it right away (because it actually keeps weather out? ) or do I not need to worry about it (except that it looks nasty)?

it helps protect the weather sealant that holds the windshield in, i would replace it as soon as you can.

mine was doing the same on the drivers side, till i siliconed it in.

is it the side molding on the windshield. If you pull out the weatherstip that attaches to it, you'll see it is held in by 3 screws. Only way of it flying off is all the screws fell out.

maybe I'll know what you're talking about a little better when I get the new one in the mail. I don't see anything to pull out.

I had the same problem with my car on the driver's side until recently! I thought I was the only one! I finally got mine fixed when I got my windsheild replaced (big ol' crack). The windshield guy took it off (with the three screws) and glued it back together with some black winsheild sealant stuff and it hasn't moved since!

Also, like everyone else has said, the trim peice does not keep the water out, it just covers the seals on the sides.

heh...that bottom screw is a bitch. I made the "I'll know what you're talking about..." post minutes after I bought the new one online. And I have it installed already. buy-oem-parts.com rules.

Thanks again for the help Richie. I didn't know what you were talking about when you said it, but it did help me in figuring out what to do once I got the part.
