My car had one on it when i bought it. I did not like it at all. If it is not functional there is not point of putting it on it just screams RICE and that you like auto zone. Save you money and get a aftermarket hood. Unless you feel like cutting a hole in ur hood.

This picture was taken about a one year ago.

Extremely functional, but looks terrible from the sides. Black paint might help it some.

what is the black part on the right side of the scoop. Also the hood scoop on ur car is is functional and you car is fast. A hood scoop on a stock car is pointless. but on a boosted engine or highly built engine it can help with dissipating the heat.

a scoop on a stock car will still dissipate heat..just because its stock doesn't mean it doesn't get hot.

wouldnt that cause high pressure air from the bottom of the windshield to actually be forced into the engine compartment while the vehicle is at speed?

The way that the cowl is designed I believe would actually cause the airstream to suck the air our of the area where the opening is located. Think aerodynamics

I like the look of the cowl hoods, too. At first I only had cut a screen vent in the center, later bolted on that scoop. 2 years ago, the intercooler was where you see it here, and I cut another vent above it. That did not really help much as far as heat, so the IC got moved to the fenderwell. Fuel pressure gauge is in that vent.
See those EVO-vents upper left corner of pic? I'd do something like that for a Magnacharger, but too much metalwork on the stock hood.

The evo vent will look sweet are you going to get a different hood and just cut the vent out and then put screen in the vent.

No, I want to do something radical, like use a brake cooling fan and duct air under the upper intake. Then put my stock hood back on.

It's working ok for now, and got to finish up other projects

Somebody should do this:

actually now the hood is opened up from the front to the rear, when it was cooler out this past winter, i could see heat waves coming through the opening at the bottom of the windshield.

the only hood scoop I like the look of on the alero is http://www.andysautosport.com/oldsmo...i00239709.html but that of course is a whole new hood. ^as said way up there, those things from autozone and such look super tacky.
