For some odd reason my 3.4 alero has been idleing from startup at a lil over 2k RPMs. I have already replaced the TPS(Throttle position Sensor) but it still idles high. Even when i drive the idle stay around the 1500 RPM range. Any opinions on what is wrong?

Same thing happen to me on the weekend. Idling way to high around 2500. Mine was the Idle Air Control Valve. It is located above the TPS. It allows air to bypass the throttle blades to control idle speed. You might want to try a good intake cleaner it might just be carboned up. I was on my way to Chambersburg, PA from up here in the great white north. I think it was around $38 at PEP Boys. Mine didn't throw a code.

Every once in a while mine is staying up around 1250. Don't think it's vacum if I shut the car off and restart it, it returns to normal (750). I thought they were supposed to idle around 600 rpm. Mine is up around 750. All this with no load on engine.

what is it when you have a cold start and your idle is bouncing from 1000-1250ish? I get this from time to time.

Mine was also acting up. Where the idle would act up every once and a while.. I also noticed that if I turned the engine off it would usually reset. I found on one web site some advice that helped. I cleaned the MAF sensor and now it behaves properly. That is actually what brought me to this site. I was looking to see where I found that info because there was some other good info there as well.
Does anyone know some good links for technical help with wiring.

I'll try cleaning the MAF. It does it warm and cold. Doesn't drop off high idle when it warms up, shut it off, resart and it sits at 750. Start it warm and 1250 restart it's normal. Sometimes you need to restart it a couple of times. Does it maybe once a week. When the IAC valve went it would be as high as 4000 sometimes, but mostly 2000. Did it ever get a kick in the tail going down a hill.
