starts then shuts off immediately

so sometimes my car will start then shutoff immediately. bypassed passlock 2 years ago. this didnt start happening until 4 months ago when it got cold here. also when this happens no lights come on when ignition is turned to any position dash lights, mirror lights etc. bad batt or something else?

Ign switch? Battery is OK otherwise it wouldn't crank.. which it must since you say it tries to start.

Needs more info... no lights coming on is a power delivery problem in the "run" circuit. Catch it when it doesn't work and start checking @ the ign switch "run" power wire. Then work your way out.. my guess is it has an issue before it branches to all the things that are "hot in run" at the fusebox.

Obviously the start/crank circuit is working.

The part where it starts briefly is just residual gas that may have dripped slightly from the injectors most likely (had a GP with no injector pulse that would do that when it sat overnight).

Sounds like VATS to me. I just dealt with it today and had the same problem when it was set to PWM instead of Linear in the computer. Not sure how it can be disabled and come back on however.
