EVAP throwing on Service light

I have a 2003 Alero (3400) It has a Service Engine Soon light on, saying that there is a problem with the Emission Control or EVAP sensor. Any information on how I can fix this? It also doesn't like to fill up with gas, you have to pump a little at a time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Google the OBD2 code. It's a common problem across all cars. Often it's just a gas cap, but in your case you might have a bad hose in the fuel tank area or something. Normally the hoses (sometimes vacuum hose) go bad but yours might be a different problem, like not the fuel filler neck hose but the smaller hose that mostly parallels it. It can also be a real PITA to fix.

More details on this please. Is it every gas pump? Are you using that's thing on the pump handle that's supposed to keep it on (not recommended, since they usually are broken). Did you try slightly rotating the pump a little bit? Does it matter if you aren't trying to get the fuel in there at full flow?

sounds like the most common simptom of a bad vent valve. if the vent valve is stuck shut it wont alow pressure to vent from the fuel tank as you add fuel. however a clogged line could cause the same concern. do you have the exact dtc? theres not realy an "evap sensor".

I can get the actual code here later on today maybe tomorrow, I am leaving school early to go to work, won't be home until later. Turning the nozzle didn't really help at all. It quite possibly could be a bad vent valve.

if its the vent valve then it should be easy. should be pretty much out in the open with one or two hoses and an electrical connector. half hour job or less id say.

One bolt, one quick connect and one hose clamp and its off. Mounted right beside the canister close to the fuel filter. Part #15142482
