No horn/Wiring Diagram
Hey all!
I was wondering if anyone happened to have a wiring diagram of the horn system for an Alero? I can't figure out why mine doesn't work. I've hit the panic button and I can't seem to get any power at the plug to the horns.
I have tried a different relay in the panel under the hood, and the fuse appears to be fine.
I still need to track down a small piece of wire to be able to test the connections inside the under hood fuse panel for power.
Thanks for anything!

I might be able to help you, but not now.
I have wiring diagrams at home, but I'm at work now

Sweet! That would be a big help.
I suspect maybe the horn part of the multi-function switch is bad, need to see where else the horn circut runs.
Thanks!

I have no diagrams on the horn.
You already tried the relay, what about the horn itself?
It's under the pass side headlight, take out the headlight and see if the wires are OK

That little piece of wire you are talking about, is that to jump the relay? That's your first bet to see if its the horn itself or something else. If you put that wire across the relay (I use speaker wire) and the horn blows, you know you have another issue....more than likely the clock spring. I never had that issue on either Alero, but I've fixed that very problem on several other cars.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I found the wiring diagram online from that link. It looks to me like the BCM and the horn button can control the horn independently. Today i'll dig out a piece of wire and see if I can get the horns to blow. If not, I have a couple replacements sitting here I'll swap in.
I couldn't get power at the connector to the horns with the panic button on my fob pressed, but I forgot to try a different ground. I'll give that a shot too.
Thanks!!

Ok, so i've got the horns working now. I overlooked a blown fuse in the fuse panel under the hood, but after changing it the horns still didn't work. So I replaced the horns and now they work fine.
But I reassembled the steering wheel and now the horn won't shut off. Which is probably why the fuse was blown and the horns were fried in the first place.
I put the steering wheel all back together, and then when I was putting the battery terminal back on, thats when I discovered that the horn was stuck. So i took the wheel apart again, reconnected the battery, and now the only time that the horn goes off (constantly) is when I touch the red wire from the airbag assembly back into the socket in the column.
So is the horn switch stuck in the steering wheel, or is there another problem somewhere else? are the switches serviceable, meaning can I disassemble the center part of the wheel and gain access to the switches, or do I need to replace the whole thing?
Thanks for anything!

Ah darn and I remembered to print it off today, too!!
I think the only way to replace the switch is to replace the airbag.. you could try messing with it, but I dunno how safe it is, or how successful you'd be.

my horns don't work either. I tested the relays and the horns themselves and they pass. I read that it has to do with a bad clock spring that's inside the steering wheel. the horn button is connected to it or something. Kinda like the turn signals and the faulty hazard switch.

the clock spring must have something to do with the white piece of plastic in the column. I've tried to move that piece, but all it does is move in a circle with the steering wheel.
