Help Identify Gasket?

I posted about a coolant leak a while back, it went away on its own, but now its back. I traced it to this gasket, can someone tell me wht its called? Thanks.

If it leaking from there, then its either a warped thermostat housing, not likely, or a bad thermostat gasket. A rubber O-ring that wraps around the thermostat before installation.

If you plan on fixing that then change the thermostat too. Saves you time, coolant and overheating in the future.

FYI..........you will not find a thermostat there. because that is not what you all think it is.

that is aplastic housing with an o-ring on it. the o-ring maybe bad or the housing is warped.

if you go pulling it off and replacing the o-ring you also need to replace the o-ring for the bleed tube also.

i'll be able to give you more info when i get home tomorrow.

The thermostat is at the back of the engine, where the metal tube comes up to the water pump. Once you take that plastic piece off the head, you'll be able to read that on the part

I know its been a year since this post but that same gasket just went on my today. Wasn't sure exactly what it was until now. But when I popped the hood thats where the steam was coming from. I had it taken to the shop. Glad I know whats wrong so they don't try and screw me with saying it the rad or someshit.

it's only like a $20 part, and an o-ring... you can do it yourself in like 30 minutes.

It's some clamps, two bolts, and moving wiring loom outta the way, possibly moving your air intake or whatever out of the way for ease in access.

ratchet, extension, proper sized socked, a swivel attachment and i think you'd be all set.. oh yeah pliars for the hose clamps, and maybe something to catch some spilling coolant.

Funny... That exact same thing happened to my ho about 6 months ago... I pulled it in the garage and haven't touched it since. (My ho is just a project... I drive a G6 to work

I have one it should be good, $5 plus shipping, you well find that the housing is rotted away when you take it off, i did mine but it kept one leaking so i had GM do it for a ton of money... And thermostat is no where near that....

You may not have to replace the housing. I did mine last month and all it cost me was $1.06 for a Felpro o-ring at Advance Auto and about one hour of my time. The housing on mine was fine but I can see where replacing the housing might be needed in some cases.

Ok I changed the Water Outlet, its really an easy job. took like an hour. I did lost my 1/2 socket down my engine bay. Could not find it back lol.

It had cracked and broken in the block!

20 bucks later, no more dripping, but yesterday the car started to hesitate on the highway... I hope its only bad gas...

make sure you cleaned the sensor that was on the piece you replaced.

I didnt think about that. I just took the part out, unscrewed the sensor and put it in the other piece. I didn't really touch the end of the sensor. I also cleaned the water outlet before installation.

What else could cause that? I also went to buy some plugs, but theres too many brands and different types, and I know that I need some "cold" ones. Ion told me to buy some NGK TR6, but could not find some or maybe they sell them under a different name over here.
