Foam Piece in Blower?

OK, so I got my new Final 500 today, and one of the problems was the blower would shake the dash a lot on high, so I got a new blower motor, and when I went to put it in, I found the problem. There was a piece of foam jammed in the blower wheel. I took it out and all is OK now. So that saved me $40.

Any idea where it came from?

It goes between the cowl and the metal under the cowl. Must have come loose and shook on over. Got pics of said final 500.

Do you happen to have a picture of about where it came from? Is it normally glued in, or is it just a friction fit?

As far as pictures I just have a couple right now, it got really dirty on it's trip here, and I haven't had a chance to wash it. (Work, cold, etc...)

It looks to still be in great shape. I do not have a picture. If it was warmer I might try to get one real quick of my remaining one if it wasnt 14 outside with wind chill of -2 right now. One of mine is in my trunk because it wouldnt stay in place.

It is still in really good shape, though I think there is a spot of clear coat missing on the trunk... I'll know more once I get a chance to really wash it. (The joys of buying a car you haven't actually seen in person.)

Do you know what its purpose is? Is it just to dampen a vibration or something?

I believe so, it seems to me that it was glued to the cowl. Mine has been off for about 2 years now and I haven't noticed any adverse effects, though it was put there for a reason I am sure.

I'm still trying to decide on a license plate...

Some I have thought about are:

LST OLDS (I know someone else on here has that, never mind we are only allowed 6 characters.)

So that leaves:
FNL 500
362-500 (They don't allow slashes.)

Any other suggestions?

I like FNL 500. I personally would go with that one if it's available.

I wanted to get FNL 500 for mine but the state said that it was too close to the format they use... KY is limited as well as we only have 6 characters which makes it harder.

Crap you are right, they don't allow three letter/three number or three number/three letter combinations... So that is off the table...

I did a lookup and it doesn't look like anyone currently has "FNL 500" issued as a standard plate. (Otherwise I could try to track them down and get them to transfer the plate...)

(However 500 FNL belongs to a 1999 TOYOTA TACOMA.)

Well that sucks. Here in Tennessee they're not too picky about the combinations of personalized plates. It just has to be a minimum of 3 characters and a maximum of 7, but can be any combo of numbers/letters. Just no punctuation marks.

All numeric tags are hard because most states used to issue them before in the 50's and 60's. Same goes for AAA-000 combos and 000-AAA combos. Those are pretty common in 6 letter license plate states.

Here in the DC area, neither DC, VA, or MD will issue all numeric tags. DC used to issue them until 1998, MD used them on trucks and VA uses them on handicapped tags and a vanity tag they issue. They all allow 7 though and the filters aren't that restrictive... Especially VA, home to the (V) AGINA, EATTHE (kids first), FOSAMA, and a bunch of other questionable vanity tags. The letters in parenthesis are because some tags have phrases or letters of universities on them.

BTW I suggest trying this... D LST 1S.... Not sure if it conveys the message, but it would read as The Last Ones, as in the Last Olds. Might be better to have a license plate frame that says "Oldsmobile". Another way would be having the frame and the tag that says "D FNL 1S" Of course, this wouldn't be understandable if Oregon doesn't offer the space. I know some states will stamp tags as "DFNL1S" or "D FNL1S" which defeats the purpose.
