big 3... again

hey people... i've read tons about the big 3... but have a few questions...
i have a 2002 alero with a 2.2L ecotech with 5 speed and using 1/0ga wire

i've already done the battery to ground... was easy enough...

i think i found the negative one on the alternator... but it seems like the bottom... far to much work to try now...

and now for my questions..

where the hell is the positive wire on the alternator on the ecotech? can't find it... i'm retarded... sorry.

second.
i've read so much about it... some people say you need a 150a fuse at the battery... some people say you don't...

please tell me yes or no

for the power off the alternator.... i didn't bother w/ a fuse.

how is your alt going to "surge" and if it does.. it'll just hit the battery. I might hurt the battery... but i'm not too worried.

I've had mine that way for over a year. no problems at all.

thanks guys!!!

but any idea where the positive terminal is on the 2.2 ecotech? i found the plug with 3 wires... and just below that appears to be the ground

i'm pretty sure i'm going to have to lift the car to finish this project

i can't speak for the 2.2, but i can say there is no ground wire on the 3.4 the metal that bolts the alternator to the engine IS the ground. So what you think is the "ground wire" might actually be your main power.

The positive wire off the alternator is covered by a rubber boot. If you're looking down at the alt you wouldn't see it b/c theres hoses and shit in the way. The bolt points towards the front of the car. I checked my pics but don't have one that actually shows the bolt. Here's the closest I have:

thanks! i think that is the same wire i saw... it just wasn't red.

And to make it clear...
don't need a wire from alternator to engine block because the bolt is the connector
and that wire on the bottom of the alternator can go straight to battery positive without a fuse.

THanks guys... this is going to be a pain in my ass. lol
