Engine Rebuild

Hello all my 01 alero has quite a few miles but no modifications is it worth it to rebuild it or jsut get a new engine? Basically what I am asking is how much for a new 3400? Or to rebuild the engine (professionally)?

Get a Used one in! Unless you plan on rebuilding it yourself!

Rebuilds for my 99 2.4L was about 2-2.5K
Used Engines for my 2.4L was 800 to 1.5K

Luckily my uncle had one with only 51K miles on and it was priced around that 1.5K mark but he gave it to me for 500

Personally from my experience in the past month just get a used put in.

Labor will run you 500 to 800ish

if theres nothing wrong with the engine (no leaks or noises) and you dont intend on any major mods (turbo or similar) i wud just stick with what u got. how much do u mean by "quite a few miles"? mines going on 160k, and its fine. its also the 2.4 which lasts a little longer. but if youve got issues with ur current engine, and just want to get it back to stock, just swap in a used one. ive seen em for under $500 with less than like 30k. either way good luck

lol thats true, unless you like have to add fluids when you leave for work and then when you are going home form work... you are basically selling out all the money you
could have for a new engine on fluids.. so if you leak that much crap or it like knocks then scrap it...
