tranny fluid level

Ok i just want a plain and simple answer. i dropped the pan for the tranny fluid. obv. this is a 3400 and i want to know how much to put back in. i know if you flush it all out its 9 qts, but idiot me did it the old school way. The guy at auto zone said to get 4 qts, 5 to be safe, so i did. i filled it 4.5 qts and a friend (mechanic) said it might not be enough. Im sure theres people that have done this on here, and just want a simple answer in # of qts. and yes, ive searched (just came up with ways on how to tell if its full or not)

Called the dealer, and he suggested 6.6 qts of fluid...does this sound right? Will i damage anything if I over fill it? I know nothing about trannies and am an idiot for attempting @ 18
