two things
alright, the other day i noticed a strange noise coming from under the hood.
the car only makes the noise while idling and at low rpm >1800rpm
its hard to describe, i may be better off trying to get a video of it. yea ill try to get a video because i literally do not know how to explain it.
and the second thing, my fan (interior) only works on high. how do i cure this problem? it doesnt seem like it would be a fuse issue or relay because it still works... just only on the highest setting. i have had this problem with one other car and i never figured out why it did it. and.. go figure it was a j-body.

yeah it's not too expensive.
mine's never had an issue, car's 11 years old with 226,000 miles... and I always use the settings where the resistor is working the hardest

alright im going to have to describe it. seeing as the car decided not to make the noise when i started it up today. listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAU9YqBYrz4 that. at 0:04 the track has a sound that if described would be
Wooooo--Wooooo-Wooooo. the sound my car made yesterday made that sound.. only it was slower then the one in this song. and it wasn't repeated as fast either. the sounds were about 5-10 seconds apart. that is the best i can do in describing it.

I can't listen to the audio at work, but we really need the real audio from the car.
Noises can be anything. Belt, pulleys, bearings, etc.
I once had a clunking/knocking sound that almost sounded like bottom end damage, all it was was that my crank pulley was loose.

alright i finally got a video of it, it seems that the noise im hearing only happens on longer trips. after ive been driving for about 45 minutes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auq5T214-9M&hd=1
that is the link i think. anyone got any ideas what it could be?
the car also starts to get warm at idle after a 45 minute drive if i park for a few minutes. the needle went over the half way mark on the temp gauge just enough to where you can see black inbetween the mark and the needle. i turned on the air to cool it off.
ANYWAY, what is this noise, and how can i correct it?

your cars haunted... gtfo.
is it engine speed related?
is it blower motor speed related?
if its not engine speed related nor blower motor speed related... if you put the car in drive with the foot on the brake does it change the noise?
is your car in defrost? (a/c compressor engauges when in defrost)
as for the temp gauge, my cars temp needle will almost get to 3/4 mark when idling afte a trip. i checked it with a scan tool and it was 224 degrees ECT. right after taht the temp dropped back down. and for now its normal as far as im conserned. think of it this way. your cars nice and hot.. then you stop and no more air is traveling over your radiator. its going to cause temp to go up anyways.

i do not believe it is engine speed related. the blower motor was not on. and the dial for the vents was on window/feet i believe.
also my car is a standard... i cant put it in drive and hold the brake.
when i drive while the noise is there, the noise will increase in speed until about 2k rpm then i cant hear it (engine noise is louder if the odd noise is still there)

looking at the video i think your blower motor was on...
sence you have s standard, depress the clutch and wait a few secounds while idleing and see if it changes the noice,
while sitting there rev the engine up a little bit see if it changes the noise.
