my dad suggests simply having money in the bank in order to pay for vandalism damages, as insurance costs usually outweigh the benefits...
even at $100/mo, that's $1200 each year, and then $500 if anything happens. so something gets broken and costs $300 to fix, after a year of being on this insurance policy, i'd pay $1700 for a $300 repair

The reason is because of the paint job. The trunk would have to be replaced as well as fixing damage on the rear quarter panels because they used crowbars and tried to pry open the trunk. So basically in my mind it is because of the paint. The estimator kept pointing out stock vehicles sitting around the lot and saying we work on cars like these....
So idk...i've talked to a custom body shop here in town and he is willing to work with me. So I will be going through the options of what to do and where to take it. The insurance company told me that they would write up an estimate for the damage and then cut me a check and I will take it to whomever I want. Church brothers is going to tow it wherever I need to take it free of charge as long as it isn't out of state or anything lol. So.....just waiting to hear back from the custom shop.... If anyone knows of any other reliable custom shops in indianapolis area that will do insurance work, then please tell me. Eventhough I may have found the shop to do it, just want options... I wont get the estimate from state farm till friday....

Well the dumbest thing to me is that, once they were in the car, they didnt just hit the pop trunk button. I mean hasn't a pop trunk button been standard on cars for awhile now. No, they decided to cut the rear seat and pry on the outside of the trunk and break both taillights. Stupid!!!
Well, im off to work, will keep updating as i find things out.

They are probably too poor to buy a 96 or newer car

most places dont want to be responsible if anything goes wrong, if they hear air ride or shaved handles most places will turn you away no matter what your going there for, oil change, wheel alignment anything. i suggest networking with car enthusiasts and finding places that will do the work on your car

You'll say that until something happens, Lindsey hit a tree on ice in the bravada doing about 3mph, yes 3 not 30, $2200 in damage.....

i only wanted it for protection for vandalism, not crashes. any crash i get in would be the other's fault and i'd sue for the fix if the mini-tort $500 was too little.
if i crashed into a tree like that, insurance company would try to total it if the damage was $2200, car's not worth that much (according to an outside inspector, they see a 9 year old Oldsmobile with 192,000 miles)

Yea im happy they didn't get into the trunk... I dont even think they knew it had air ride considering none of the interior lines/switch box was stolen or cut... So I think they just thought there was stereo equipment in there. But yea...luckily they didnt...

Dang that really sucks. I hope justice gets served. A thief is one of the worst POS there can be. At least you know who they are, so justice will be served (even if its by you lol).

By law if somebody slams on their brakes and you rear end them you are at fault for following to closesly, doesn't matter what they do, trust me I found out the hard way....

Duh that's what I mean. I don't plan on ever causing an accident, if something happens it's going to be the other's fault, so I'd be covered there. lol
The bitch that flew out across all lanes of traffic failed to yield. So even since I couldn't stop in time, it was her fault and she got the ticket and I got the money. And my insurance rates went down, LOL.
