Big Brake upgrade

SSBC makes 11" and 12" front and rear brake upgrades.
I know people were looking for a rear big brake upgrade hopefully this works for you.

Not wanting to sound like an ass, but this is nothing new.
On top of that, they are severely overpriced, and the 12" rear setup is only for upgrading rear drums.

Um you best bet if you want to stop better is get the bear stock replacement rotors sold in sets at autozone or order off there web site.

I know the rears are for drums, but im sure that it wouldnt be hard to install even if you have rear rotors. I just didnt see anything on here about these and figured I should post it up.

Actually, you would have to swap over the knuckles in the back to use their big brakes. Something about the caliper mounts doesn't work with their adapter brackets.

And the caliper with the parking brake FTL.

You could get NEW rear GXP brakes for a bit less and have more readily available replacement parts.

Do the GXP Rears fit with no modification (other than larger diameter wheels I would figure)

They should as the standard rotors are the same exact ones between the regular grand prix and Alero. Also Grand Prix owners use stock N-Body rear brackets and calipers for weight savings because they're aluminum instead of iron.

There will be a definite answer once mfuller gets around to bolting them up.

Are you wanting to swap the drum and make them rear disk???

I dont have rear drums, I thought this would be a good idea for somebody looking to do a large rear upgrade, drums or rotors. I didnt know that there would need to swap the knuckles out. I think this would be a good summer project if the GXP rears dont work out so well.

In case anyone was wondering, rear brakes from a GP GXP do bolt right up.
I have not driven with them (as the car is in storage, on jack stands with only comprehensive insurance) so I cannot say how they work, but the only note I have so far is that the GXP caliper "anchor" is much wider than the stock anchor, and the fit between the knuckle and the dust shield is rather tight - but you can wedge it in.

I have not installed rear pads since I'm thinking of selling these used parts and getting all new stuff, and the pads are still in their package which I don't feel like opening. That and I'm waiting for new pad shims.

BTW, those are 17" wheels (which I may or may not keep). I haven't had 16" wheels in years and have no idea of they would clear these brakes.

The old style 185, which has since been changed to a new style for trucks (and is quite ugly). These are difficult to find now, and I've always liked how they looked. Got 'em on kind of an impulse buy, because.....well, just 'cause I could.
